Silence...except for the various sounds of the forest. This was how he wanted it, for now at least. A strange creature hovered in the center of a small clearing, sitting cross-legged with his hands on his knees. His eyes were closed, allowing him to take in all of the sounds of nature. Tundra hadn't been able to hear wildlife like this in his entire life. Not on his home planet, not on any of the other planets, and especially not in space.
He sighed and tilted his head upward, slowly opening his eyes, revealing the red, serpent-like circle in the center of each eye. This peace was something he had longed for for some time. It almost seemed too good to be true. Who said backwater planets were useless? This place had an overwhelmingly pleasant aesthetic value to it. Perhaps he could make this his home...just perhaps...

Gohan sat in the grass field that surrounded his home, threading the blades with his fingers. He waited for his father to come get him so they could go train together. The sky was clear and the day reminded him of so many before the Saiyans had arrived and shaken his world upside down. He grabbed the book that lay beside him: A History of Earth and began reading the chapter his mother had assigned to him earlier that morning.
The birdsong flitted through the air, teasing Gohan's thoughts with times of play and frolick. He wanted nothing more than to run around and jump in the air. His father was alive and Frieza was dead. They would not leave for planet Vegeta for another month and though it was a short time, Gohan knew that it was long enough for him to forget it for a while.
He could not concentrate on the book and set it back down in the grass. He leaned back on his elbows, extending his legs into the plush grassy expanse and twitched his feet back and forth. He smiled, feeling like what he thought a normal 9 year old boy should fee like when he got to spend time with his daddy.
"I sure wish Piccolo and Krillin were here too," he said, thinking out loud.

Goku whisked through the forests to home. He was beaming, his hands holding onto the stem of a giant fish's tail. It was fish for dinner later, but that wasn't the true source of his excitement. The revival of his home planet stoked him, despite being as ominous as it was told. The story itself gave Goku chills, not even having known at another Saiyan was on the planet while he was out in space. The thought of it wiped the grin off of his face and instead replaced it with a well-placed frown, a look of seriousness that Goku only dawned in dire situations. Whoever the Saiyan was, he didn't kill anyone. It was a small miracle that Goku was grateful for.
Chichi had sent him off on a trip to find more food. Money was growing short, and it was damn good that Goku was something of a master fisherman. On her order, he went out and grabbed the tastiest looking fish he could find, which happened to be one of the biggest, and headed back home in a run. He slipped into the house, easing the fish down in the kitchen, ready for Chichi whenever it was time for her to fix dinner. Goku looked around silently, seeing no sign of his wife. He surmised she must have gone off to the market to do her own share of the gathering, and he went through the house, calling out his son's name in an attempt to summon him. Not finding him up in his room, Goku scratched at his head before looking out the window and seeing him play with a blade of grass while trying to concentrate on his book. Goku grinned with excitement, grabbing Gohan's uniform, reminiscent of Piccolo's and leaped out the window, "Gohan!"
Upon landing, he gave the uniform a toss to the boy, "Your mom's not home. Let's get a move-on for training! Whaddya say?"

Movement. Tundra could hear it. His nerves twinged as he heard the rapid footsteps bolting through the forest. In a knee-jerk reaction, Tundra's legs straightened, his feet plunging into the earth, making small craters. He could still hear the footsteps practically tearing through the forest floor, eager to get to whatever the destination was. He strained to hear a more precise location that the noise was heading, but to no avail.
Well, whatever it was, it certainly wasn't a normal inhabitant of this planet. As much as he did seem to like Earth for its aesthetic value, he refused to believe that anything born here could be that fast. Still, he had no way of actually tracking that 'creature'. He bit his lower lip and thought for a moment...and an idea occurred to him. He heard, at some point, of a rumor about those who could actually feel energy, especially those who weren't particularly technologically advanced.
From what Tundra could tell, this planet wasn't all that advanced, so it was worth a shot. He waited just a little while before building up his energy. His aura began to pulsate before finally radiating in a deep violet color. He didn't make that much of a spike in his noticeable power level. He wanted to test the waters a bit. To see how much of an irregularity would send that creature running at him. Now it was a waiting game. Only time would tell.

Gohan heard his father calling for him and looked up from the book. A tossed uniform hit him in the face and he laughed, reaching up to pull it off his head. He stood up and took off his shirt, replacing it with the weighted training tunic in his hands. Carefully he removed his pants and put on the new ones. He tied the red sash around his waist and looked up at his dad, grinning broadly.
Gohan picked up his book dashed over to the window. He reached inside and set the book down.
"Yeah! Come on dad, I'll race you!" And with that, Gohan set off on a brisk pace to the trail that lead up to the mountain. He knew Goku would catch up quickly, but he paced himself for the mad dash at the end of the trail.

Goku stood, fists on his hips and a smile on his face as he waited for Gohan to get up and get ready. A power however shot through his senses and brought his attention immediately back towards the forest. It was upfront and deliberate. It was powerful, too. His eyes widened, jaw dropping and grin disappearing from his features. His entire body tensed up and his arms raised from his sides, knees bending and feet planting tightly into the grass beneath him. "Wow, what a power!"
His eyes narrowed and he relaxed, adorning that serious Goku aura, searching for that energy that spiked so high. "It came from the forest. Strange, I hadn't sensed anything like that in a while," he reached a hand up to scratch at his scalp, "That power drop must have really affected me harder than I thought!" Whatever it was, it was powerful, and it was close. And by the feel of things, it was trying to get their attention. That or it was in a huge fight, showing off, or whatever. He looked back at Gohan, "Come on! We have to go see what that power is!"

Tundra concentrated for a few more moments, keeping his power level spike steady, but after those few moments, he began to let off. He had waited too long. Whatever it was, it apparently could not sense power levels. He sighed and let his power level drop to a resting point.
"Oh well, just one less creature to mess with, I suppose," Tundra grumbled. "Gives me more time to get the lay of the land."
With that, he returned to his normal floating position, his legs folded and his hands resting on his knees, and his eyes closed. However, just as he began to concentrate on the clearing around him, he heard a noise. He couldn't quite tell what it was, but perhaps whatever it was that he was trying to get the attention of had actually noticed him. He smirked to himself a bit.
Well...as much as he liked the peace, he still occasionally needed to have his interests piqued by just about anything, whether it be a new warrior or simply something out of the ordinary. Who knows? Maybe luck would bring him a mix of both.

Gohan slowed, hearing Goku's request to check out the strange powerlevel in the forest. He stopped running and looked back at his father, frowning. He wondered if the powerlevel were another Saiyan, come to get revenge on them...but they shouldn't know that they were here. Right?
His brow creased as he concentrated to suppress his power, bringing it down to almost nothing. It was probably better that whatever it was that was out there didn't know that there were two of them headed his direction.
"Let's go Dad. I think mom will be coming home soon and we don't want to miss this chance to train." Gohan was more excited to train than to study right now and this new presence excited him even more.

Goku nodded and powered up, blasting off with Gohan towards the forestry from which the spike in energy emanated. Inside him, excitement sparked, as well as a trembling fear of what it could be. The spike itself was weaker than his maximum, but who knows what it was? Could it be Vegeta? Piccolo? Krillin? Or was it someone else? Or someTHING else? Either way, they were going to find out, and once the power died, Goku looked back at Gohan, "Come on, it's fading! Faster!"
Once the father-son duo reached the forest, Goku came to a quick, screeching halt in the sky, looking over the jagged greens lining the base of the mountain and traveling up its shaft. He could sense nothing now, and he narrowed his eyes. Whoever it was knew how to hide their power, and it only rose Goku's excitement and anxiety all the more. He went quiet and listened. All he could hear was a distant herd of stag tromping through the trees in search of loose bark, but that was about it.
"Darn it, I can't sense it anymore," he said.
