Planet Vegeta had been revived, and the cities were renovated. The tall white crags of cermet stood tall still against the dark sky, as well as new buildings made by forging architects and carpenters. They were adobe mixed with the sturdy Tuffle technology, and held a more natural and ornate style to them. The evening was fairly quiet. Only a few Saiyans were out and about tonight, either going to attend some business or returning home from it. Or perhaps they were out simply to walk off steam or reflect, most things that no Saiyan would normally do on any given night. Children play-fought in the streets, growling and biting at each other. Chikori watched them from afar, sitting on a small porch with her legs crossed. She was wearing her dress, plain and simple among most feminine Saiyan wear. This new method of dress was, in Chikori's untold opinion, way more comfortable than the spandex and breastplates. Most Saiyans she knew, however, hated it, and tended to scratch with animalistic fury at their limbs in irritation to the various textile fabrics. Other Saiyans she noticed didn't care, as long as they could still wrestle and fight with each other. Some clothes got dirty and stayed dirty, but Chikori tried to keep herself from getting into rumbles, not being the fighter she once was, and was relatively successful. The childrens' tails wagged almost as fast as they themselves were moving, exchanging intelligible words for playful growls, snarls and yelps. No other Saiyan adult kept an eye on them, and Chikori felt it only appropriate for her to stay and keep watch until the youngsters fled home. She sighed softly and planted an elbow against her thigh, resting her cheek in her palm and watching the children from the corner of her eye. Softly, she started to hum a little tune. Her eyes slowly closed briefly as she hummed, her tail lightly coiling behind her and gently flicking against the air.

Frankincense spotted a group of children playing in the street and joy overcame her like an errant locomotive. She ran and dived into the middle of them, grabbing on by the torso and rolling away. She growled playfully at them, crouched on all fours and rubbed the kid on the top of his head before being dog piled by the others. Frankincense laughed and rolled around in the dust, growling and nipping at the younger Saiyans.
She stood up and two of them hung from her arms. She lifted them up and set on on her shoulders, picking up a third and letting them dangle from her arms as she spun around in circles, the one on her shoulders grabbing fist fulls of her hair to keep from falling off. After a few minutes of this, she collapsed on the ground in a fit of giggles and then pretended to be dead as the young Saiyans crowded around her, prodding her and whispering.

Chikori's attention was renewed when a much larger creature jumped into the fray. The younger Saiyans clamored all over her in their play before it all ceased towards the end of the assault. They piled on top of her again and started pulling at each other's hair and tails, causing each other to yowl and swat at the other. When the play started to become too rough, Chikori stood up and moved away from the stoop she sat upon to shoo them home, "Go on. To your beds, all of you." They sneered at her before trotting off, swiping at one another as they bolted off down the deep adobe roads. Chikori watched them head off before looking up at the night sky. It was about time for her to return home as well. It was starting to get cold, too. She looked down at the female on the ground and studied her. She had seen this little one before...
And then it clicked. Chikori blinked her eyes hard once again as she looked down at the youngling with shock painted all over her face, "...F...Frankincense?" Her voice was soft and vague but still fully expressive of her disbelief. Had this really been the one she took in so many years ago, and then lost to the hands of the Changeling tyrant Frieza? Like so many other children before and after her? Chikori couldn't even remember the last time she had seen the young Saiyan until she was taken away for experimentation, and Chikori fell to her knees at the younger one's side, "Oh, Frankincense, is it truly you?"

Frankincense ceased playing dead at the sound of the older woman's voice. It was a voice she would never forget for as long as she lived. She did not answer, instead she sat up quickly and threw her arms around Chikori's neck, hugging her tightly. It had been a very long time since she had seen the woman she had come to think of as her mother. She squeezed tightly, overcome with emotion and barely noticed when she began to cry.
She held on for a few moments longer and then released Chikori falling back to the dusty earth and looking up at her, smiling through her happy tears. Frankincense didn't move to get up, instead she lay there looking up at Chikori. The moment passed and she sat up and looked around.
"Hey where did those kids go?"

Chikori held the young Saiyan in her arms tightly, allowing her to weep against her. She closed her eyes, pressing her cheek against the girl's wild hair, completely unkempt and unchanged since the last time she saw her. She allowed her her time before the young one fell back onto the dirt ground. She let her slide gently from her arms and stayed knelt next to her, watching her constantly.
She lightly brushed the hair away from the child's face and pulled her hand away when she spoke of the other children. "I'm sure they all went home for the night," she said softly, "We should turn in as well. The cold winds will be upon us soon, I'm sure. My home is not far from here. Let us be off before the street lights go out, hm?"

Frankincense made a great show of thinking about it before standing up and brushing off her clothes. She was very happy to see her mother was okay. It had been a long time since she had seen her and Frankincense was beginning to feel a little bad about not coming to visit sooner but then again she was very very busy nowadays. Frieza liked to keep all of his soldiers busy, her in particular.
She looked up at the older woman fondly and hugged her tightly again. Frankincense felt like a bit of her had been missing without seeing her mother and now that she was actually here, she never wanted to leave her again. She knew she would have to though...
Frankincense frowned, wondering what Frieza would do once he remembered that she had gone without his permission. An icy feeling spread through her body, but dispelled when she looked at Chikori again. Her mother would protect her for sure. She smiled brightly and nodded. Her stomach growled loudly and she looked down, laughing.

Chikori chuckled, her face more or less calm and only slightly changing with emotion. She stood along with the younger Saiyan and looked on down the street, the royal construct only barely in view at a distance. It was shrouded in shadow, knowingly cradling the wrong blood. Her slender eyebrows narrowed as she gazed upon the building. King Vegeta may have been a cruel man, but he was still the rightful holder of the throne.
Something had to be done to not only dethrone Paragus, but to reinstate King Vegeta to the throne. That, however, would have to wait. Chikori looked back at Frankincense, noticing her stomach growling. A common ailment among Saiyans nowadays; hunger. She smiled lightly and held out her hand, "There's plenty of food at my home. Come."

Frankincense looked at Chikori quizzically as she gazed up at the palace, a weird look on her face. She wondered if she should tell her that she had talked to that Paragus guy or ask her where Earth was and did she think Frieza would let her go... Frankincense's ears perked up when she heard the words "food," "my house" and "come." She clapped rather like a seal briefly before recomposing herself and standing upright, a stupidly large grin on her face.
As Chikori began to walk away, Frankincense followed, her bare feet kicking up the red powdery dust in swirls around her ankles. She enjoyed watching the dust puff up into clouds and scud away and she began to run around the older woman, stopping to kick her feet into the ground, big red puffs sprouting under her feet. She laughed happily, easily entertained. As abruptly as she started, she stopped and walked beside her mother.
"I was kidnapped today," she said offhandedly as if it were no big deal.

Chikori kept her pace up as they walked. She held the small unspoken hope within her that they would at least reach the small road she lived on before the streetlights went out. She kept her eyes upon them almost anxiously, even as Frankincense danced around her in the adobe dust. Chikori didn't mind it. Being a patient woman, she wasn't one to stifle a young one's creativity and fun, innocent as it was.
When the young one spoke up, Chikori blinked and looked over at her, continuing her steady pace, turning corners when needed and ignoring others as they went. "Oh? By whom?" she asked, not raising any particular alarm in her voice. Clearly the child was fine.

Frankincense shoved her hands in her pocket and her tail swished lazily behind her, the cuff glinting in the dying light. The scarf around her neck had come loose in the scuffle and she reached up to adjust it, looking carefully at it, checking for rips and dirt. She pushed the knot around and put her hands back in her pockets.
"I don't know...first it was these guys in black and then I got hit in the head." She lightly punched herself in the head. "I woke up in a big room and this really big guy with black hair and a fancy headband and these big shiny bracelets stopped me from beating up the guys who grabbed me...He was really strong. Then some guy with a big fluffy mustache came and told me I had to go find Prince Vegeta."
